An avatar is the picture that appears by your name when you post (mine is Ed Norton).
For help on how to upload one go here. I find that even though EZboard will scale the images to 60x60 for you (if you are linking to something larger, say 100x100), it's best to get your images to 60x60 in Photoshop or something similar before you upload it, because otherwise it can often do some strange things to the image, and any text can look odd. With regard to the half moons, they are the images that Ava uses when the thread next to the half moon is "pinned". By this I mean that these threads always stay at the top of the list even if there haven't been any new posts added. Usually these are help topics or requests from Ava. Hope this helps. Paladin

This morning I had a lot of trouble logging out. It seemed like the board doesn't recognize me or something. Also I had just posted my 300th post and it took me back to 260. Not that, that really matters. I just like to keep track of what I post on. HELP!!! I feel really silly about this.

Teacher, it looks like you are remote loading your avatar from Kim's site, did you get her ok on that? 'Tis bad thing to remote load and steal bandwidth. As for the piccy in your sig, it's not coming up for me, are you hosting it yourself or is it also from someone else's site? |

I got it from a site somewhere. Did not realize was stealing so I took it off the avatar thing. Don't even know what bandwith is. Ignorance is no excuse and will not do it again. Most humbly will apologize..

Where do you get the picture from then? Do I get the pictures from the free picture hosting sites that are listed? I have pictures from magazines but I don't know if I allowed to use those either. Do you have to email or write the magazine to get permission to use the pictures? Also same question for the screencaps.

To start RIGHT at the beginning:
1. Find a pic you like on the internet. 2. Copy it to your own computer (right click, save picture as) 3. Open it in your graphics program, eg photoshop, paintshop pro. if you want to change it in any way, eg trim sections, resize, add text. 4. Upload your pic to the free image hoster as decribed above. Once it is uploaded, the image will have a URL (address) which can use to link to for your avatar. The reason that hotlinking is frowned upon is that whenever anyone looks at a post by you (showing the avatar which is linked back to another site) that image has to be loaded every time, using bandwidth from that site. Bandwidth = amount of Mb (megabytes) permitted by that site. Usually whoever owns the site has a bandwidth limit or has to pay for additional bandwidth when it is used. So therefore, when you hotlink to their site, it's like stealing. But don't worry, everyone has to learn this at some time. I remember doing it all over the place until someone pointed it out to me. Urbanlass, ezBoard sometimes has problems keeping you logged in or out. What you can try is turning off 'High Security'. To do this, go to your ezBoard Control Panel then to Account Preferences and scroll down and under Privacy & Security uncheck Enable High Security You can go here for more infomation about this function.
As for your post count, I'm not sure what happened. I have heard of ezBoard eating up post numbers on another board, so maybe it was just an ezBoard glitch again?  |

I feel kind of funny since there hasn't been a qestion in here for awhile.
I've been glancing through all the rules and help threads. BTW now I find the instruction for the avartars  There is one thing I haven't seen yet. You're free to include links to articles, Websites or other things of interest like news items, as long as you try to make sure they're posted in the relevant forum/thread. A lot of us do that here, including myself. It's often better to post a link rather than posting a long item in it's entirety.
