Bit of a late arrival but hey ho whats new there...

Sooooo to give my two cents worth as one of the said evil trekkers.... Yes that is me.

Tbh when I first heard that Karl had been picked to be Bones I was a little like WTF. As someone who is an avid watcher of all Trek incarnations its pretty scary to think of something you cherish, however naff and very 60's it may, being remade, especially when its been done on such a whole scale. So yeah it might seem daft to non trek folks but we likes 'em how we likes 'em. Think of it as a pair of comfy slippers, doesn't matter how tattered they get you love them non the less. And as someone who has already gone through the trauma of the BSG remake it really is nerve racking.

Still I think for the most part the Trekker community no matter how much they bitch, grumble and twist will flock to see this picture, a: because its Trek and Trek people will watch almost any trek, heck they even made a cartoon. b: to see if JJ tears the beloved 'verse to shreads and c: because it can only be better than the last film, right?

Honestly, if everyone involved in this does what we know they can it should be a blast and I've warmed upto Karl as Bones, in fact I can see the whole facial thing already. I'm still a little worried about Zachary Quinto but Simon Pegg should, if given leeway, be fab. (for those who can't remember in him in MI:3 he was the computer techie guy who held out Ethan as he made his way through the streets at the end). He does genuinely funny stuff and while he doesn't have the physical prescence of a Jimmy Doohan he should still be able to pull it off. Hopefully.

So far my only huge, and when I say huge I don't really mean huge, I mean niggling problem is that Chekov shouldn't be in it!!!! I love Walter, I LOVE Chekov, he comes in after Scotty for some lovin' from me, but in terms of the whole trekverse thing he's not involved till wayyyy into the future. But there you go thats the Trekker in me coming out to scare ya'll.
