But I'm such a freak, Lou! The first thing that came into my miind when I'd heard he died was his famous line from jaws when he says: "You're going to need a BIGGER boat!"
I know, I am a sick puppy and am damned for thinking/saying that!

Charlton Heston Has Died.
Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. I just saw this on my Yahoo. He was 84.They said it was of "unspecified causes" but I know that in 2002, it came out that he was starting to suffer Alzheimers. I didn't agree at all with his stance on gun control and the NRA, but still...he was a good actor and this is sad news, indeed. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080...bit_heston ![]() ![]() siggie by Glitter Graphics Amyurban Keeper of Karl's Dirty Little Secret's |

I too was saddened to hear this, and also- not a fan of his politics but gotta lovesome of his movies-Ben-Hur especially for me.
Oddly, not too many people noted that about a month ago Ivan Dixon, the actor who played Klinchoe on Hogan's Heroes also passed away. I used to have the biggest crush on him. Christie *New Killer Star*

I didn't say anything because I didn't know that he died. Wow. That IS sad news. I loved that show "Hogan's Heroe's" and watched it all the time. It was frickin' hilarious!

I didn't know Ivan Dixon died either. I loved Hogan's Heroes when I was growing up, it was such a piss-take on those crazy Nazis.
I hadn't heard about Heston's death until I read your LJ entry, Anita. I didn't like him in those Biblical epics, but I was fan of the cynical anti-heroes he portrayed in sci-fi films, The Omega Man, Soylent Green and Planet of the Apes. Actually, whenever Planet of the Apes was on TV, I'd watch it. His rant at the end of that film is etched in my memory: "You maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to Hell!" R.I.P. Charton Heston. ![]() |

Saturday, THIS happened:
Comedian Dick Martin, half of the team of "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" ( for those of us old enough to remember THAT show ), died today. He was 86 years old. Thanks for all the laughs and the memories, Dick. You will be missed. : ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24810404/
And then today, THIS happened: It is again with a heavy heart and spirit that I announce yet another acting, directing, producing, writing person has died...this time, it's Syndey Pollack. He was only 73 and it was cancer. First Dick Martin and now, Syndey. I'm scared to think who is next, since sadly, these things usually happen in three's. : ( Thank you for your intelligence and dignity, Syndey. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/obit_sydney_pollack

I recently heard Sydney Pollack was ill and it's a real shame he has died. He was a good director and I liked a lot of his work. I also liked some of his
views on things. In fact, I used him as an example in a dissertation I once wrote about the role of government in film censorship, mainly because I agreed with
some of his views on that topic.
R.I.P. Mr Pollack.

Not again. I feel like such a ghoul and the messenger of death or something of late....
It's with a heavy heart and a tear in the eye that I announce that Harvey Korman is gone. God, the laughs that man gave us and left us with.
Thanks for the laughs, Harvey. You were such a silly and funny man and will be sorely missed! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080530/ap_

I loved Harvey in Blazing Saddles as well as the Carol Burnett Show. I used to love watching Harvey and Tim Conway together; they were an amazingly hysterical
team. R.I.P. Harvey, and thanks for the laughs.

God, getting older sucks so badly! The older you get, the more great people that you
admired growing up start dying. Just look how many have in the past week for God's sake!
May they all rest in peace and my heart and thoughts go out to all their families and friends.

That I inform you that Tim Russert, host and commentator, best known for his Sunday morning poliitical talk show,
"Meet The Press" died today of a heart attack. He was only 58 years old.
I've admired and respected Tim for MANY years. He was a good interviewer and tough at times, but always fair and respectful. That is what I admired about him; he could get down to the nitty gritty of a political issue and not get nasty about it, but just get to the heart of the matter and get you the facts. I have tears in my eyes. It is a very sad day, indeed. : ( R.I.P., Tim. You are very much going to be missed not only by me, but many. http://www.forbes.com/home/2008/06/13/russert-appreciation-forbes-biz-media-cx_sf_0613sforbes.html

Special effects man extraordinaire, Stan Winston, died last night. I will link you to my
LJ bud, Papajoemambo's LJ entry he did today. Joe is so eloquent with words where I am not and the tribute he did, the YouTube clips, etc. are just perfect
and spot on. What a sad, sad day it is....

You've had such a shitty week. I hope it gets better.
The good ones are going, going, gone. Why take the talented ones so soon? If they need the numbers, why can't some useless reality TV "celebrities" die instead?

Oh my God, NOT AGAIN!
Another great ( we seem to be losing so many of them this year ) is gone. This time, it's someone who truly meant a lot to me since I was a kid, George Carlin. I'd been into his comedy since I was like 11 or 12 years old. He and Richard Pryor were two of the edgiest, truthful but funnier than hell guys around at that time. And I never grew tired of them, either. Sadly, we lost Richard way too soon and George, well, did anyone ever think he'd die? Seriously, he was just too much of a character. And now, sadly, he has. George, thank you for so many years of laughs, insight and fiestiness. I'm sure going to miss you. There's no one out there quite like you and there never will be. R.I.P. and give the afterlife HELL for me, okay?
